i’ve experienced this firsthand
For a long time, I built on a foundation that wasn't mine.
I came up the way most high-performers do — head down, full effort, all the time. And it worked. Results were there. I kept saying yes. Recognition followed. From the outside, it made sense.
But what I didn't see — at least not right away — was that the foundation I was building on wasn't actually mine.
The goals, the standards, even the definition of what “good” looked like had been shaped by the environments around me. Not consciously. Just gradually, until I looked up and realized I was operating further and further from my own clarity.
I was achieving. I was also scattered, reactive, and quietly losing confidence in my own judgment. The more I pushed, the more I drifted from what I actually knew to be true about my direction, my strengths, and how I lead at my best.
Eventually, I did the harder work. Not more effort—but honest reflection, real support, and a willingness to stop performing and start leading from something more grounded.
What I found wasn’t a new strategy.
It was a different signal to operate from.
Internal.
Clear.
Mine.
That shift became the foundation of my work—and what I now help other leaders create.
